Requirement Grouping - Budget Process

Dear Experts,

 

Need your inputs on below points.

 

Our client is wishing to use requirement grouping,

 

1. Create Project structure with all WBS and Activities.

1.1 Maintain Grouping indicator (2 - Grouping for selected MRP groups)

1.2 Assign MRP group with Project and plant.

1.2 MRP run (on Grouping WBS)

1.3 PR's created on Grouping WBS and Receive stock on grouping wbs.

1.4 Issue based on Reservations created on individual wbs elements.

 

Here, It is required to maintain budget at Grouping WBS as well as individual WBS's. Budget at Grouping WBS for taking inventory in Grouping WBS and at indidual wbs for issue stock based on there material requirements. Client is not happy to maintain Budget at both levels. Although after distribution of requirement to individual wbs would Credit the budget at Grouping WBS  Is it possible for system not to check Budget on individual wbs element ( Grouping WBS ).

 

I have implemented this process first time. Also suggest if you can foresee any issues in this process.

Availability control not updated itself

Hi Experts,

 

we are using overall budgeting with availability control activated to 80% and 100% in Overall as well as Released Budget and creating commitments through ME51N , Issue is every time we update the original budget CJ30 we are required to run CJBN and CJEN , i tried with Supplement Budgeting also but that too populates the same error of "Budget Exceeding" even though it has sufficient budget.

 

Please suggest.

requirement transfer from PS to PP

Dear Gurus,

Users want to schedule a project end to end i.e. production orders schedule should also reflect in project scheduling.

To monitor project progress stage wise it is decided to use network functionality.

We have created project > WBS element > assigned internal activity > component.

Reservation generated but requirements are not getting transferred to PP.

We want to monitor all the stages & also schedule at network level can you please guide us?

Which SAP module certification is suitable after SAP PS Certification?

Hi,

 

I have taken SAP PS authorized training and got certification on last and immediately i got placed in a company as PS debut role. As requirement of PS module is very few nowadays,So i want to enhance my PS skills i.e. upgradation of Ps module to different module.

 

So can anybody suggest which module is best along with PS.

Invoice Receipt Update Commitment Value

Hi PS Expert,

 

We run project system(PS) module and update commitment and actual values. We also apply sap notes to move commitment update from purchase requisition to purchase order. Then, our customer also request to update commitment value in stock transfer order creation. Hence, we apply badi as per instruct in sap notes 604033.

 

Our problem arise when we apply above badi, during logistic invoice verification(LIV) against STO with freight cost, the freight cost amount update back to commitment value.

 

Is this a standard behaviour or any setup missing?

Mass change on Standard Network

Hi Experts,

 

Is there way to make mass change on Standard Network? like the mass change option we have on operative network/project?

Ask asking without using lsmw ect. some standard way similar to CNMASS ?

 

For this customer we have huge standard network templates with activities and activity elements. They have user fields with lot of data. So wondering if there is mass change option to update fields/values in the std network.

Unable to find the structure description in the Project planning board

ACL assignment in CJ20N

Hi Experts,

 

We have some authorization relevent business requirements which can only be covered with ACL and i am new with PS and specially ACL

 

 

I have enabled ACL with Inheritence on Project Profile and asked Basis Team to create on ACL Group for me:

While creating the project under same Project Profile, i don't see any option to assign ACL group on WBS except this screen shot:

SQVI - Number of Records as output is less than that available in Std. Tables

Hi Gurus,

 

Requirement is to pass STUFE=5 > BUKR=XXXX in PRPS and get superior WBS at STUFE=4 in PRHI and again get WBS at STUFE=4 > BUKR = XXXX.

 

I am using SQVI to join std. tables PRPS, PRHI and ZPRPS (Alias of PRPS).

 

The output of the same is giving 610 records, while in std PRPS table, the record is 4510 something.

 

Also, upon execution I am getting an information as :

The field Level in Project Hierarchy cannot be totalled because of field overflow

Message No. 0K051

 

Can anyone help on how can I manage the output records.

Assembly Processing: Message Create network: Project Allocation

Hi Experts,

 

We have an issue here where have been using Assembly processing. Now we are extending the process to new company code.

CN09 has been maintained

But when saving the quote we get this error message

The material being used is mapped to Std project 53100059 , but not sure why its showing the below screen and two Std ProjDef.

When I try to cancel it gives another message " Enter a CO Area, company code, or plant"

and then it gives message "error when processing network" and kicks out of the document.

 

Appreciate if you have any suggestions.

CJCO is not showing any data to carryforward - what is wrong?

Hello,

 

I am quite new in the project system / carryforwarding. However, I have few WBS elements made in 2015 and would like to transfer the remaining budget to 2016. However, what is strange, is the situation like on the below screenshot. In controlling and accounting, all bookings are working correctly, if something is over budget I get an alert, but the situation here is really strange.

Screenshot is just example from one project, but I have it exactly the same situation for all of them.

I did something wrong? Maybe I need to active or release or accept something? I create the budgets in CJ40 for 2015, and than I wrote the total budget amount only in the first line in CJ30 and that's all.

 

Do you have any idea why such situation occurs?

CJIA and Vendor Down Payments

Hello SCN,

 

I´m the FI/CO consultant in our company and we have no resident PS consultant. We use CJIA for Project Cash Flow, monitoring the process from purchase requisition to vendor clearing.

 

The purchase requisition starts at 50, purchase order turns to 51, invoicing turns to 54.

 

In the usual process the down payment request (F-47) the amount shows up in value category (VC) 58, when we post the down payment (F-48) it goes to VC 61, when we clear the down payment in F-54 it goes to VC 63.

 

When we clear the vendor invoice with the cleared down payment the amounts leave VC 63 and VC 54 and go to VC 57.

 

In our understanding this is the usual flow of things.

 

Our problem happens when we use the Partners functions on the purchase order for alternative good supplier and invoicing party (this partner is also registered as an alternative payee in the original vendor´s master data).

 

When this happens we hit a snag on the vendor clearing part of the process. As we have a cleared down payment in one vendor and the invoice on another. When I use F-30 to transfer the cleared down payment to the invoice vendor and clear the invoice with the downpayment the system fails to do the usual value categories shift.

 

It keeps the amount of the cleared downpayment on VC 63 and changes the whole invoice amount from 54 to 57, even if it is a partial clearing.

 

What am I doing wrong? In my opinion the process breaks down when I transfer the cleared down payment to the invoice vendor using F-30, but how else can I do this clearing?

 

P.S. I also tried transfering the invoice to the vendor with the cleared down payment, but the results were the same, no control of partial payment/clearing and the cleared down payment remaining in VC 63.

Conversion of Internal Orders to WBS Elements

Dear PS Experts,

 

In the existing engagement for a professional services client, we are migrating the Internal Orders master data in to WBS Elements.

 

we intend to build the PS structure as outcome of this conversion and not any data related to amounts/budgets/postings.

 

could you anyone help me with a reference template or help document as how best this can be achieved?

 

I am specifically looking for mapping for source and target fields (e.g. Investment profile, commitment update, etc)

 

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Activity group for PS Budget

We have a requirement from our users to apply PS budget only on Purchase requisition & Purchase orders. So, the budget should not be checked on goods receipt & transfer posting.What is the best way to achieve this.


Need Help to find PS configuration path for TCNF table

Hi Team,

 

I am configuring the system based on Table results , we need to find SPRO path based on table results

 

 

For Ex: TPIR2 -value categories , based on results we know the configuration is under PS

 

         SPRO > Project System > Costs > Value Categories > Maintain Value Categories

 

 

 

Similarly  now I have to configure for the Table TCNF- Project info system Display fields

 

So I have checked TCNF in SE11 for the display field 000000000004, results are in screen shot

 

 

And I found the path SPRO > Project System> Information System > Technical Project Reports > Define Profiles for Displayed Fields

There I have made some changes and those are reflect in table results also , you can find in screen shot for the Table STRUCR with name KUMARVA

 

But I am unable to get Results for the table RCJ_PS_PLAN, please find in screen shot

 

Can you please let me know the SPRO path to update the table RCJ_PS_PLANin TCNF ?

Plan costs of Maintenance order considering as Actual overall in WBS

Hello Gurus,

 

There is a plan costs posted in maintenance order and the same value is considering Actual overall in WBS element as WBS element is assigned in maintenance order and WBS element budget is considering the planned values of the order and not allowing to post further costs to that WBS element. Can you please help me to understand why the planned costs of order are considered as an actual cost in WBS elements.

3. When i am doing Material issue system is posting actual costs against Original WBS and reducing  Actual Cost from New WBS . Is there any program wherein we can correct this behaviour.

Cost Planning multiple versions

Hi All,

 

In my present scenario we have to plan for multiple versions of the cost plan i.e. the change in the cost plan of a wbs will be multiple times and in the total lifespan on the wbs there may be 40 changes which again depends. Client wants to compare all of these changes in a report. While at the first thought I am sure this is not possible through CO versions because of two reasons:

1. The number of changes are dynamic and will be not fixed in the beginning

2. In standard reports we can only compare two versions at a time not more. (correct if I am wrong)

 

The best possible solution I can think of using Project Versions. By creating as many project versions. I assume we can compare as many versions in reports like CN41 or CN41N. But when I was trying this in our sandbox for S/4 HANA I cannot find the field for version comparison in the reports which is greyed out. I have created three project versions and I am selecting them in the input screen but ultimately in edit>comparison>project versions is greyed.

 

First of all is my approach correct? Second why is this greyed out? How to compare? Is something changed for S/4 HANA?

SAP Customers Using Engg. to Order (ETO) Functionality

Dear All,

          

Our company has Automation businesses that need systems and processes that satisfy Engineer to Order (ETO) business needs covering multi-month multi-year projects. No two projects are similar and are completely engineered from scratch. Our key stakeholders in these Automation businesses have less than positive view of SAP’s ability to support their needs and are looking at an alternative ERP solution since one of a newly acquired entities uses it successfully. For Lincoln this is now a platform related discussion whether to go to the other ERP or stay with SAP for this subset of business. The preference is towards SAP because all our other Make to Stock type businesses utilize SAP and introducing another ERP only for subset of businesses will need lot of investment. But, due to lack of confidence in SAP from our users, we are facing this decision point.

          

What the users have specifically requested is to have discussions and demo from few SAP customers who are in ETO space to alleviate their functionality concerns. I am highlighting some of the key requirements that they have insisted they need to see in a demo:,

          

Must Have: Key Functionality being used in Other ERP

          

- PLM CAD integration with Materials & BOM: Integration of the Engineering Prints to the Structured BOMs – How does the customer link the information on the Engineering drawings to the BOMs / Routers and method of manufacturing.  identify this integration.

- Project Management – How does Customer review/update projects during the process? How long are their projects typically? Is data available in BW? Is it possible to build a template that would import data from the SAP tables? Can they update cost estimates by category?

- Project Monitoring: As-Quoted v/s As-Designed v/s As-Built Margins – Demo how a project with purchased materials, labor, and sub-assembly parts get created. Then, how does the project flow through when time is entered, materials purchased, sub-assemblies closed, etc.

          

Good to Have: Not directly being used in Other ERP today, but could be developed in future.

          

- Quoting and Configuration Process – How customer is using SAP for development of quotes? Walk us through the creation of a quote and then order.

- Scheduling / Capacity Forecast – Is Customer using any scheduling or capacity forecasting?

- Purchase Order Creation – How are PO’s created from the job, and can the materials be charged directly to the project (and multiple projects on the same PO)?

- Time/Attendance – How does Customer enter time into SAP? Another system? Is there a bar code or employee entry option?

- Warranty / Service – How does Customer track warranty claims? Is there a service module?

- POC Accounting / Progress Billings – Does Customer use POC accounting or recognize revenue based on progress billings? Demo how both function. Can it be different between jobs?

          

The main key is that the users really want a Demo of projects from cradle to grave, if possible to see how user friendly the system is, as well as get comfortable the functionality even exists.

          

I would be greatly obliged, if any of one out there knows SAP customers that utilize SAP systems to support ETO businesses and are willing to talk with us and provide a demo of the key requirements highlighted earlier. I know it would be difficult to find one company that may be able to provide demo on all the needs requested, but even if there are few out there who can demo the ‘must have’ needs, it would be a great help.
